So Wells Fargo has moved in after acquiring the old Wachovia building. For those who have lived in Birmingham for a while the name change was kind of a big change to the downtown skyline. It's the new moving next door to the old.
If you have ever viewed Disney's, The Princess and The Frog then surely this photo will make you smile. If you have not seen the movie, please do it will really warm your heart. The love for Evangeline is in some way symbolic of the sweet essence of hope, love and faith.
Location: Summit-Birmingham , Ala. When I first snapped this picture I honestly did not think twice about it. However, when I scrolled through my shots it struck me! First, the colors, it almost looked as if it were a fake picture. However, it's not, it is a real picture of a a beautiful sky and a hanging plant. Enjoy!
I can almost touch them! I snapped this photo on top of Red Mountain and the clouds appeared to be so close, I felt as if I could touch them! It also felt as if the sun could touch me on this hot day as well ;).
I love clouds. I love sunlight as it streams through clouds especially after a summer rain shower. I really can't take too much credit for this picture, all I did was snap God's beauty! The contrast of shadows versus light really creates an airy feeling that the heavens are closer than we think.
I love light..especially early morning sunshine and the setting rays of a setting sun. This is a picture of morning sunshine filtering in through my blinds. I love the shadows casts below. It looks like natural art to me !
I snapped this along the banks of a stream that runs through Homewood. Under a bright morning sun this was a shady spot where I stopped during my run. I thought the curvy branch was unique and of course the trickle of the water was soothing. However, I did not stay long after I snapped this because I saw a SNAKE! I mean, a big "ole" coal-black scaly snake also enjoying the shade! Needless to say, I was out in a NYC second!
Here it is.. because I'm teaching this class(this is my demo painting) I kinda rushed through it but here it is (minus a few touch-ups) Red Poppy by me!
"In The Making..." In my spare time(I know what spare time right? :) ) I help and teach a painting class at Birmingham's oh so awesome Sips N Strokes!! So here is a painting that I will teach soon. It's called Red Poppy. I choose this angle because I wanted to show a view that the natural eye would not normally catch at first glance and I love the check board ceiling! Plus the sunlight was nice. As for my painting, I'll post the finish painting in a few. In the meantime check out other paintings @ www.sipsnstrokes.com ! I hope to see you in class one day!
So this is my first crack at playing with natural light and shadows. This is actually a dark stairwell in the atrium of my aunt's home. I also played with a bit of depth of field with the stair post in the foreground. This too was taken with my blackberry, which does not have a flash.
I took these pics a few days mornings ago. I call the first one( sorry you have to tilt your head to the right to see it as I snapped it) is called, " A rocky start". The second is called..." In Bloom in Bama". More to come!!
Hi ya! So of late, I've been really getting into taking pics! So I have decided to start a photo blog! I'll start with a few pics a day and who knows! This was taken last night (July 4th) on top of Red Mountain in Birmingham. BTW: all of my pics are taken on my b-berry ;). Not an expert at basic SLR camera so if you have any recommendations please send them my way. I'm looking to buy one soon. Peace and blessings! BB
